Solution to Grouchy’s Harvest 30 Tulips Quest

By

There’s a glitch associated with Grouchy’s Tulip Harvest Quest that has been causing players difficulty. Unfortunately, users must work around this error until it’s resolved in the next Smurfs Village update. Simply planting tulips in several flower boxes and then harvesting them will not count towards completing Grouchy’s task. In this quest due to a glitch, players aren’t allowed to reuse flower boxes unless they spend Smurfberries to accelerate the growing process.

Luckily, whether a player is Smurfberry rich or on a tight SB budget there are two successful methods for completing this arduous task. The first method that works is to repeatedly plant one tulip at a time and then harvest it instantly using SBs. Although costly, for some reason this approach is accepted. The second approach is to simply have 30 flower boxes in your village, plant the tulips, and then harvest them when ready. If you don’t have that many flower boxes on hand, a quick way to access them is to delete crop fields.  Crop plots and flower gardens have equal value. Players are limited to a specific number depending on their level. Simply delete a crop plot for each flower bed you need. Once deleted, enter the build menu and purchase extra flower boxes until you have 30 empty ones available. Then plant red or pink tulips and wait until they’re ready to be harvested.  When the tulips are harvested Grouchy will grant users with their XP reward. Both methods work. Select the solution that is most convenient for you.

i have the same problem, except i have to plant 40 artichokes for grouchy. i planted and deleted 40 artichokes, and that didnt work. then i grew 34 artichokes with all my crop fields. still nothing happened. is it the same problem? i dont want to delete 6 flower boxes and have to replace them.

    • Stroumpfette says:

You probably need to grow them all at the same time. The flower beds are cheap, so deleting them and replacing them should not be a hardship.

  2. Nona says:

I too was having a problem with Grouchy's 30 Tulip quest. After reading this page with comments, I did not want to buy more flower boxes or use berries. I had just planted pink tulips (8 hrs) in my six flower boxes. I deleted one and replanted and this advanced Grouchy's counter. I waited until leaves appeared on new crop (few seconds), deleted and replanted and counter advanced again. I tried doing same in a second flower box but this did not advance the counter so I stuck with the first box. The quest did not complete when I deleted my 30th crop–but when I planted the 31st crop. So, it was the act of deleting AND immediately replanting that advanced the counter. Maybe this will work for someone else.

  3. bakterio says:

I have a flowerbox, plant tulips (100 gold), remove flowers, and over again …. Grouchy's 'quest counter' goes up on every cycle (1/30, 2/30, 3/30, etc….)

It will end up costing 3000 gold, but….

Grounchy need some flowers for bed. What does it mean?? Let me know pleaseeee..thanksss :) :)

    • Stroumpfette says:

You need to purchase flower boxes from the Decorations/Garden menu and plant flowers in them.

  6. Mandy smurf says:

Does anyone know if the bug has been fixed? Or do you have to plant 30 tulips in 1 go?

    • Sassete says:

You still need to plant al 30 tulips at one time so what you can do is to delete some plots end replace them with flower boxes instaed

      • Jadzeea says:

Since I don't really like planting flowers, if I delete crop plots and add flower boxes, then when the quest is done can I delete the flower boxes and get the crop plots back? Also will it work if I just put 30 of the plots in storage? Will the quest just go away after a while or will it stay there & not let you get another one? It said in there explanation that it would be fixed in the next update and there have been a few since then… Are there plans to fix it?

        • Stroumpfette says:

You cannot store the fields. You must delete them, or you won't be able to purchase flower boxes. We have no idea if the quest will be fixed. We are a fan site run by volunteers and are not affiliated with Beeline.

  7. Chuck says:

Papa Smurf asked me to harvest 20 tulips "Harvest some tulips… I need the bulbs for a potion. Harvest 20 boxes of tulips."

I have done this with a mix of preplanted and watered and "newly" planted tulips. I used Blue Tulips, but it hasn't worked. Any suggestions?? I'm level 47 on iPhone.

    • Smurfette says:

It only works on "new" tulips. So you will have to do it with 20 new ones, then it should work.

      • Gandako says:

Same problem here. Planted 20 new tulips but nothing happened. Am on level 47 too!

        • Smurfette says:

There have been glitches with this quest, but the new quest windows should show you how much you already completed, in the headline of the quest it should say something like (0/20), then (1/20) etc. Check what it says there to see if any of the tulips registered with the quest. Also make sure that you are growing the correct flower, sometimes it is enough to grow any tulips, but some quests ask for a specific one.

  8. Terri says:

I’m having trouble with clumsy’s quest where he says to plant flowers to stop the smell. I’ve planted dasies, they’ve grown yet I can’t harvest them for some reason. Please help!!

    • Smurfette says:

He does not mean the flowers you can grow in the flower boxes but just the decorative ones you can buy from the build menu (second shop)

  9. Lydia says:

I have planted over 30 tulip plants, one at a time then deleted them once they have grown and replanted another plant but still I can not complete the quest and it is getting frustrating!! I don't want to waist coins or smurf berries adding lots of additional flower boxes or speeding up flower growing process. Can anyone give me any more advise? I have read all the comments in previous posts.

    • Stroumpfette says:

You need to plant 30 at the same time. Planting one at a time will not work. The article explains this as one of two ways to complete the quest until Beeline issues a fix.

    • dardasim jud says:

This task is very similar to a previous task that also left a lot of players confused. To finish this task you need only one flower box. It has to be completely empty. No flower growing in it at all. The wording on the task is completely misleading. You don't need to harvest anything, you need to PLANT 30 tulips from scratch into an completely empty flower box. and than delete them.
Once it's planted, tap on it again and remove it. There is no need for you to even wait on the Smurf to get to the flower box. Repeat this 30 times total and you will complete the task.
Its work I did it today.

      • chris says:

        thx this works!

      • Dadly says:

Did not work for me. I used one of my 5 flower boxes but nothing happened after well over 30 cycles of plant/delete. Maybe need to delete the other 4 boxes first??

        • Stroumpfette says:

If the quest is the one where it says you have to "harvest" 30 crops, then you have to plant 30 at a time and harvest all at once. You can do this by deleting some of your fields and replacing them with the flower boxes. When you're finished, delete the flower boxes, and repurchase the fields. Do not store them in the storage shed, or the game will not allow you to purchase additional flower boxes since it still counts those items when placed in storage.

      • Kay says:

It worked for me! I have 4 boxes with roses and only used 1 for the quest. It only took me 2 min to complete.

      • Cindy says:

Thanks! This worked for me too! Quest says to harvest but planting and immediately deleting and planting again in one box worked.

      • LOVESDUCKY says:

Totally works. Just tried it & voila… quest complete! Thanks for posting this tip.

  10. pork chop sandwich says:

Do we know if the tulip bug is fixed in the new Christmas release?

  11. Happy says:

Quest: darn it! I can't seem to get my beard-polishing spell to work! I need a crystal.
Problem: how about of crystal? Anybody help!

    • Guest says:

Same problem here, already found all possible options so far and he is still asking for that crystal!

  12. guest says:

after planting, and letting it grow, you delete the flower and replant them. must total up to 30 'planting' processes. it's not the watering(or growing) repeatedly that has been counted.

  13. megan says:

Has this glitch been fixed or do I need to buy 30 flower plots? Seems like a huge waste of money and a lot of work. Maybe I will just ignore his quest.

  14. KT says:

Is there a glitch for grouchy quest to play org portion game? I played it couple of time and completed but nothing happen and u still see the quest showing.

    • Marco Smurf says:

yes there is a glitch with the orange potion quest, it doesn't have a solution, Beeline is aware of the problem and will be fixed in the next update.

  15. Kevin says:

can you just store the plots in the storage instead of deleting them?

  16. Jim says:

I keep reading how some of you delete your farm plots to buy flower boxes. In my game on my apple iPad you can delete the crops but not the plot itself. Will somebody please clue me in to how you delete these land plots. Thank you !

    • Dreamy_Smurf says:

Go to the build menu. Tab the button to move things. When you tab an item it shows a red button at the left. Tab it and the item will be deleted.

  17. Smurferguam says:

It worked. I deleted 30 crop plots, bought 30 flower boxes, planted the 8 hour tulips, harvested them, and quest was complete! Then I deleted the flower boxes and bought 30 crop plots. Slight inconvenience, but it worked.

  18. Roy says:

So, I deleted some of my crop plots with the intention of adding more flower boxes to complete Grouchy’s quest. Now, it won’t let me add any more. I can’t add anymore plots or trees either. Basically, I can delete these 3 items, but not replace them. If I make use of all my plots, trees, and boxes, I now have about 8 Smurfs with nothing to do. It just tells me I need more smurfs to buy any of the 3. So, any idea what happened?

    • Luk says:

Ahhh…. I have the same problem!! How can you solve it? Now I need to plant a tree (magic shrub) for Papa Smurf but I cannot do it because of this bug.
      Any help?

    • Kara says:

What is the work around for this problem? I am on level 34 and haven’t been able to add new plots of land or flower boxes for quite some time. I tried deleting crops to add boxes, but it didn’t work. Now I’m out those plots for nothing. My phone won’t allow me to update either. So I assume Grouchy’s quest will continue to go undone?

      • Stroumpfette says:

There is a known issue with not being able to add plots and huts. Beeline is aware of it, aand we are hoping it will be remedied in the next update
What device and OS are you using? Beeline dropped support for some of the older iOS devices.

      • Kay says:

You don't have to delete anything, you can use one of your own flower box, only one will do! I did this quest planting and deleting 30 times in one box in two devices.

  19. Firelock says:

My smurf game will not come up on my iPad. The beeline screen comes up but then goes away before it completely loads. Any help?

  20. Casolei says:

As to the tulip quest that is glitching and to the above solutions, with option 2, if one converts 30 plant beds for 30 flower boxes can they be converted back after the quest is finished? I have planted over a hundred tulips since the quest started, if I just wait, once the update is done, will my quest be complete?

    • Poet says:

Once you have completed the quests, you may replace your flower boxes with your usual farm plots.

      • I have deleted some of my crop plots in order to have the right amount of flower beds and my quest still won’t work. Grouchy says i need thirty tulips so i now have 30 flower beds and have planted the pink or red tulips all at the same time now at least twice and the quest still won’t work. It’s just a waste of time and your coins :(

  21. Mickey says:

Anyone can let me know which is life rings ?

  22. Sally Kelton says:

Yep also same the same problem with Tulips must have planted about 48 by now.

    • alice says:

Do you know there are 2 kind of sandcastles in the island?
