Crashing App (Game won’t open)

smurfs-app-has-crashed Sometimes it can happen that the game either crashes while playing or during the opening process. In general this does not matter and is due to lack of memory. Just completely close the app via the multitask bar (double tap on the home button) and restart the game. Everything should work fine now.

If it does not work and the game still won’t open there are a couple of things that might help. If the game does open but you are back to level 1 (or any other level below your current status) stop playing and see our “Recover Village” section.

1. Turn the device off and on again

The first thing that might help to get the game working again is doing a hardware power cycle of your device. Just click on the sleep button on your device (the little black button at the top right corner) until “slide to power off” appears on the screen. After turning it off, wait a minute or so and turn the device on again by pressing the home button. If everything has started again (that might take a moment) try opening the app again.

2. Log out of Facebook and/or Game Center

Sometimes Game Center or Facebook can cause crashes of the app (for example if you have added too many neighbours for the game to handle) and it might help to log out of those services. If you are using both, log out of both of them, if the game works after that you can log back into one of them to see which one caused the problem. It might also work with both Game Center and Facebook if you are always only signed in to one of those services at the same time.

To sign out of Facebook, open the Smurf’s Village App and on the main menu screen click “Options” then “Manage Friends”. Just click on “Change Account” and you will be logged out. When the Facebook Pop-Up appears, do not give your information again, just tap on the “x” in the top right corner. If it says “Log In Now” instead of “Change Account” you are already signed out.

To sign out of Game Center you have to open the Game Center App on your device first (for more information on the Game Center App and where to find it see our “Adding Neighbours” section), then at the bottom tap on “Me” and then on the banner with your account (it should say something like “Account: youremail@mail.de”). After that a Pop-Up appears, click on the “Sign Out” button and then try opening the Smurf’s Village App again.

3. Play the Game without Internet Connection

If all of the methods stated above do not help, you can always try to play the game without any connection to the Internet. This is not a long-term solution but might help you to get your game to start so you can, for example, save your crops before they wither.

On an iPhone or iPad simply go into Settings and turn the Airplane Mode on. If the Airplane mode is not available (for example on some versions of the iPod Touch), just go to Settings -> Network -> Wi-Fi and turn that off.

4. Sync your device to iTunes

Another thing that can sometimes help is to sync your device to iTunes (iOS only). Just plug it into your computer and connect it to iTunes, then open iTunes and choose your device. At the bottom right corner is a “Sync” Button. After your device has finished synchronizing, disconnect it and try opening the game.

    Exit app, go to settings and adjust date/time ahead 24hrs and reload app. Once you are in play mode, exit the app again and change date/time to correct date/time.

      I went back 3 days and it worked for a minute but then when I corrected the time back it didn’t work … nothing is working.. Ughhhh please do an update to fix. My friend also has the android and hers hasn’t worked 2 updates ago.. place help..

    my app loads to the play screen and then nothing! you can hear a page turning noise then it goes to the home screen on my iphone!!!!! ive tried the tips above!!!!!!

    After weeks of not getting the game to load I opened the game centre and logged out then turned the ipad off then back on then logged back in to the game centre and pressed the play tab on the top left in the game centre and it worked. FINALLY.

    i tried all the things behind but i cant open it. as i open the front page, it's okay. but i press the 'play' button. it doesnt work and back to my phone's front page automatically
    btw. i use htc sensation that runs andriod thus some points arent suit me
    what can i do??!

      If you have tried the tips that work for Android as well (restarting device, using Airplane mode etc.) there is nothing more you can do. You have to contact Beeline at support@beeline-i.com. They might be able to help you.

          Ii had the same problem and got sick of it so I tried something drastic.. I deleted the game off my iphone. during this process it asked about keeping the leader board info (dont know if that helped) but i kept it. Then I went to my app store and reinstalled the game. when it finished reinstalling it gave me the option of starting a new game or retrieving my saved game. I retrieved my saved game everything was still there and so far so good BUT its only been a few hours.

    I seem to have problems with connecting with friends. I want to grow flowers and need a seed as a gift from a friend. Unfortunately, connecting via Facebook and Game center does not seem to work. When i open the app it is shown that i have connected with Facebook, but no friends appear. When I open gamecenter i see my friend, and I am connected to him but still no additional village appears in the map. What can I do to solve this??

    The application presents a problem and not opened. Clear the game and reinstalled it but unfortunately it returned a 20% completion of level 34. I made a purchase of smurfberries to update the home of Farmer Smurf and purchase the monument of turkey thanksgiving day and the upgrade of several houses Smurfs when you restart the game and the updates were not.

    I need your help because I lost USD 4.99 from the last purchase I made with you to better decorate the farm of the Smurfs.

    I hope that somehow the Solution Center 50 smurfberries may return again to decorate my farm.

    Since last update that added beeline orange screen I am having a terrible time with the game. Crashes as beeline or at startup smurf page or when I tap a crop to harvest or when i start a minigame. sometimes I can complete minigame and when i tap OK it crashes and I don't get credit for the game and still cannot play over until the bakery is cleaned or whatever…very frustrating! my progress has slowed to a crawl!

    I play on an ipad 2. Since the last October update i almost never see my friends list. And if i do it takes forever to water flowers and give gifts, it usually crashes.

    I have tried shutting down ipad, restarting, logging out of game center and facebook but nothing works. I sent beeline an email but no response. Any ideas?

    I havent downloaded the new ios 5 version, will try that tonigh but i dont think it will help.

    Thanks for tip about the hidden gazebo!

    When will christmas stuff come out! I want snow covered trees and blue reindeer lol.

    Also, wouldnt it be freat to have an island available, boat or even just a dock to add to the beach area?

      My game also doesn’t work ever since I updated to IOS5 , but Beeline said they’re next update should be in about 2 weeks and they will definitely try to fix everything, just be patient : /

    hi, i have a problem wiht my app…it doesnt work anymore, the screen is locked on orange screen with Beeline written…i tryed switch-off the app, the iphone…but nothing happen…so i tryed log-out from game center and open the app (and nothing), so i tryed open app without internet connection(nothing) so i tryed sync my iphone with itunes…nothing…my app wont start…what should i do? please help me

      You have done everything you could do, either contact Beeline (support@beeline-i.com) or you will have to wait for them to fix it in one of the upcoming updates. When it is frozen on the orange screen it also helps to just let it be and wait for 5-10 minutes on that screen, sometimes it then goes to the main menu

      reinstall helps! don't loose the game center data, so you can keep on playing where you left before.

    I am an I-pad user only. No i-phone. If my son uninstalls the game and reinstalls it, using his last backup on itunes, will all his progress be lost, or will it reset to the last backup? He can live with that, but losing EVERYTHING seems quite unreasonable.

      Usually when you delete the game and reinstall it theres a message that pops up saying if you want to restore your previous village, if that did not occur then try the special trick: go in the options menu and click on papa smurfs head 16 times and a restore button will appear at the bottom and check your latest village if its there, if that doesent work then to my experience im not 100% sure you can back it up from your itunes and i dont think you should synk it theres a restore data button you should try that and again i would be about 80% sure of that. And remember if you restore it then everything that you saved untill your last sync that you did will be lost or changed, (if you did any changes.)

          Have you (or your son) tried the tips from the article above? Usually restarting the device or playing in Airplane Mode solves this issue.

          Alsom sometimes when it is frozen on the Beeline screen just waiting a while (like 5 to 10 Minutes) without tapping on the screen works as well

      Handy_Smurf is half right. If you have your village connected to Game Center then you can just delete and reinstall it and a message will appear when you first open the game (you must be logged in to GameCenter) asking you whether you want to continue the village saved on Game Center or start a new one.

      However, the "recover village tip" (i.e. tapping Papa Smurf's head 16 times in the options menu) will not work if you delete your app, because those are daily backups the game creates and they will be deleted together with the app. So this only works if you do not delete the app.

      The itunes thing, on the other hand, does definetly work. If you sync your device to iTunes it will create a backup. To restore your village you have to restore the whole iPad from the backup, that means all data (not just the data from the Smurfs App) will then be restored to how it was when the backup was created. However, you will really have to choose restore from backup in iTunes, simply resyncing the app to the device will not transfer your data but install the app as new.

    Game freezes on beeline. It works at all other games like smurfs grabber and pet shop. Tried all the things except for redownloading it as I do not have internet acces right now.

    the best way to fix the problem of the game not loading is delete the game and re install it , then use the online stored village . thanks for the help it worked a treat .

    Does Farmer Smurf come with the Harvest All Function right away without upgrading with 15 smurfberries?

      Yes, the Harvest All Function and the extra 25% of XP for up to eight crops near by is enabled after purchasing, only the Plant All Function requires the upgrade

    My clever daughter fixed my Smurf app problem. I tried all the options mentioned here but nothing would get the app to open on my iPad. So we deleted and re-installed the app on my iPhone, logged into Facebook and the game centre and played the game. Then deleted the app from my iPad and reinstalled it. Voila!! Working again.

    Like everyone I have also tried all the listed options, logging out of facebook & game center, airplane mode, etc., etc. The support page don't work so I emailed Beeline support directly and they sent me the same information that's listed here. I have paid money several times for smurfberries so I'm pretty upset about this. I run a iphone with the latest OS. Beeline should test all updates before releasing them.

        smurfette… when is the new update coming up? because my smurfs village just crashed and i am so sad about it… this is the second time that happened to me.. first i was in level 22 and i lost my village, so i start all over again and now i'm in level 21 and it crashed again.. huhuhu dont want to delete the apps yet.. what else should i do? i've tried the about info already and it doesn't work. =(

          If you have tried all the tips, you will probably have to wait for the next update. The general update cycel is 4-6 weeks, so it should be live sometime in the middle of October

        I have contacted support@beeline-i.com four times with no success. I'm not sure where to turn to next. After my initial contact they opened a ticket and said I would be contacted in 48 business hours. It's been two weeks and after subsequent attempts at emailing them, my smurf village app is still "unplayable". It crashed, wont' open and I extremely frustrated.

        Anyone have any advice? Spent money on this game….really unacceptable.

          That is unfortunate, they usually answer, although it can take them some time. Maybe post on the Feedback page on their Facebook site (facebook.com/beelinegames). As I understand it, the Feedback page is browsed by employees of Beeline regularly

            That was great advice Smurfette, only there are tons of only there are tons of others who have posted the same issue on their facebook page and they aren't responding. I have now gone through iTunes and opened my third ticket for technical support and still have not heard back. I am going to contact iTunes and let them know about the lack of response and then I am going to refute all the charges for smurfberries on my credit card. There are a lot of upset people out there. Such a shame.

      Exact same problem here… I just update the new version today and I have tried EVERYTHING and nothing works. I emailed them and all they are telling me is the exact thing they say on here. Obviously it's not my phone bc It looks like its happening to a lot of people. I also have invested money and would REALLY like for this to be fixed!!!

        Sorry to hear that. Unfortunately, the only other thing I can think of that might help is to update your device. If you have an older device, it will not be possible, but otherwise, plug it into itunes and see if an update is available. If it is not, or if it is but it does not solve your problem, you will most likey have to wait for Beeline to fix this. Did you try Airplane mode? Because I hear many people are having success with opening the game without Internet connection.

          yep tried airplane mode as well.. no luck :( its been pretty bad before, but the update before this fixed EVERYTHING and it hasn't closed out once until i updated yesterday… now it just gets to the blue screen for about 10-15 seconds at most and goes back to my iphone screen. I just synced my phone to my computer about 2 days ago as well…

        I too just had this happen to me last night. I cannot get past the first blue screen. It takes me right back to my iPhone screen where all my apps are. I have tried restarting my device numerous times, sync'd my phone, opening airplane mode, turning off the WiFi etc. Nothing is working. I just updated to the latest version of the game two days ago. Thanks for posting the beeline support email address. I just sent them an email. Has anyone else contacted them? Do they respond quickly? So upset. I was in the middle of harvesting a huge crop! :) Don't want to start over and lose my entire village. I was at level 26 and had 163 smurfberries.

          It can sometimes take a while for them to answer, because they have lots and lots of queries, but they should answer you eventually

          I had the same problem and contacted beeline support, they replied almost immediately. However the advise they gave me didn’t really help that much because they basically said either sync on I-tunes or delete the app. I have already synced my iPod so I have just decided to wait untill the next update and I’m still waiting- I can’t risk loosing my smurfs! Hoping there is a halloween update.

            Also in the email that beeline support sent back to me they said that if you delete your app and it deletes the data then they will refund your smurfberries if you have the iTunes reciept but I personally think that it is not worth it.

    i have iphone 4, updated the app yesterday 9/16, and first, it lagged, and I saw that the game didnt run as smooth, but today, it crashed, and I cannot open the app all together. I would be very mad if I lost my village, I refuse to start all over.

      Beeline has released the following statement: "It looks like the Smurfs' Village server issues are going to take until tomorrow to resolve. During that time social functions won’t be available (gifting, watering flowers, etc…). However, the game should still start up, but it may take several minutes for Smurfs Village to load. We’ll be working on this issue through the weekend and we’ll update the community as we learn more. Sorry for all the frustration.". For me it works already, if it does not yet for you, just try in a couple of hours again, it should work soon. As long as you have your Game connected via GameCenter, you should not loose your village, it will come back when it works again

  45. I also have the same problem. When I open the app, there is "Beelin" and that's all! That's "crash" on that.
    When I turn network OFF, it works. If I don't turn network on OFF, it doesn't work. I don't understand..

    I have ipod generation3 and I cannot open the game. I tried everything that you suggest, unfortunately nothing happened. After the update I was able to open the game but today it crashes during the opening. I was so happy with CapCom and without this update >.< Sent a mail to beeline, hope they will find any solution.

      No, sorry if you have tried all above and are also on the latest update, I don't think there really is something you can do about it at the moment. You might have to wait until a new update is released that will hopefully fix your troubles. However, you might want to contact beeline and explain your problem and what you have tried, they now it best if their is a solution. -Their email is support@beeline-i.com

          Beeline has released a statement saying that the problem with crashes might be fixed if you update your device to iOS 4.3 If you have an older device and it says up to date with a lower ios version you might have to wait for a fix in the next update. If you use GameCenter, try to reinstall the Game, that helps sometimes, but only do it if you have GameCenter, otherwise there is a risk of losing the village

    I confirm the lack of memory on my iPhone 3GS.
    Maybe another tips to try:
    Once that the wellcome menu page appears, wait a little moment, a small minute for example before push PLAY button.
    After that my app seems to crash less often…

    I hope it’ll work for everyone too…

    Although there are punishments for using the time cheat, this is just a server error and Beeline is working to fix it, so it should work soon (if it does not already, my game works again)

    So you are saying the app still crashes everytime you tap on the ship? If that is the case, I'm afraid you may have to either restore your game to an earlier time and try the quests again…OR…have you gotten the latest update from the App store that was released 2 days ago? Perhaps that update will help.

    I used the recover village as described here twice, so I lost only little progress each time, but it's frustrating anyway. I quit the game last weekend. I tried to remove and reinstall the game with the result that I had to start all over again. The Gargamel bug is persitent, the first announcement that was made at level 0, 0% was that Gargamel visited the village………It has been fun, but now it has stopped…….

    I am having the same problem. I am very disappointed with Beeline's quality. They are selling Smurfberries to my 7 year old son, but he can't play the game because it won't launch. We got a crash on the Orange Beeline opening screen for the last few weeks. I have tried every potential fix I could find on the web multiple times: closing other programs, hard reboot, changing the system clock, restore of factory settings and reinstall–nothing works. This seems to be pretty common. Beeline's quality really sucks and they shouldn't sell things that do not work to young kids. We waited for today's update, but even after installing today's update, we still get a crash. Any help is appreciated, but getting ready to abandon the Smurt's and Beeline for good.

    I have been having the same issue for the last 2 days… after more than a year of game. To reinstall, do I need to desinstall the app and say "yes" to the fact that all data will be lost ? Pretty scarry… I have seen the game center message popping up many time when playing smurfs but I never managed to have any renking or achievements in it… when I open Game Center and Smurf app zoner in it, it says that last play was today… does it mean my plays are in game center and I can safely desinstall and reinstall ?

    Have u rebooted your device ? Like press and hold power button.

    Reinstalling will delete all game data on device. Since u r using game center, game center has a copy of you village on server.
    After reinstalling, u will start playing from level 1, then game center will prompt u to choose between local level and server level. Pick server level.

    If you dont feel good, just plug your device to computer and do a full backup (not sync) before reinstalling.

    My iTunes account was hacked so I cannot access my game center account, the password was changed. In this case, what else can I do? Does this mean I will lose my game data?

    I saw this post from Bethany Smith (beeline rep) " If your Smurfs' Village app is crashing at the Orange Beeline logo, close & exit out all of your apps. After that, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake button and the Home Button on your iOS device together. Do not let go of either button until you see the white apple logo appear in the middle of your screen. (Ignore the slide to turn off messages). Once your device is done re-booting, try launching the app again."

    HI dear all, I have the same problem and I also scare to lose any data from my i-pad. Now I have a smart way to do which to ensure my data in game centre won't lose.
    I use my sister's i-phone to logon my game centre and play the smurf village but not quit from the game, this is to ensure I am still in the game centre mode.
    Then I delete my problem village game from my i-pad (remember to answer "Keep" game centre data); and reinstal a new game.
    Once the game has been installed and when I open the new game and the system prompts me to choose my game centre data or not. Then I choose my village data. Now my village has been back again. I am very happy to see my village back.

    I tried also everything what is mentioned above and below..nothing works…. I can´t play my smurfs for 2 weeks now..spend up to now a lot of money for smurfbeeries.
    Please answer. in the past i wrote you a mail because i lost 800 smurfbeeries and you helped me immediatly thank you in advance!

    i just did the uninstall-install thing, the very exact thing trackr did…deleting the app but keeping the GC sync…but now my game is back to start…. T_T…..i tried to do the restore thing too… but the preview was not working and only says one date or backup…8-26-2012 (thats today) omg…what to do? T_T more than a year's work down the drain…. T_T
