Grandpa Smurf was introduced to the smurfs village in Thanksgiving 2012 update where he was featured as the main character. He is only available in the mountains and can be found at level 25. After a series of quests from Papa Smurf to make a hot air balloon and fly to the mountains. He is not stationary and works similar to Papa Smurf on the mainland, that is he gives out quests and walks around the mountain village. Whenever he has quest for you, a yellow exclamation mark will pop up over his head, if you tap him, he will tell you what to do in the mountains. His quests are similar to papa Smurfs ones so whenever you complete them you earn XP.
Grandpa Smurfs Hut is also available in the mountains to build. It costs 30 Smurfberries and gives XP rewards for all the gems that have been placed in the mountains. The gems are available as rewards from digging in the mountains, for more information please read the article about the mountains article.

The mountain sometimes gives rewards like smurfberries. I admit that you can't make lots off money there but instead you can enjoy the digging for treasures
plant corn.. corn gives the most coins to play with. Never waste sb.. sb are saved for important things.. Spend 200 coins and dig moving across the mountain. Nevering missing mountain move up and across and then back down again. When you find a gem. Try to dig in the same place.. good luck and have fun with it.its a game

You have to dig for it. I put shovels down on top of the rocks & found it under one of them.

Guys, just time cheat. If you want jokey to continue giving presents, move forward by 24 hours a few times and he will start giving again – plant golden potatoes, click timber and miner, click lucky, dig, send rafts – move forward another 24 hours. You’ll get there in no time with a few SB along the way.
It is not SMURFY to encourage others to cheat, and there are safeguards in the system to protect against messing with the time clock. When your game breaks, once they find out you've cheated, I doubt anyone will be excited or enthusiastic about helping you.
You take the fun out of the game by cheating. The game is about waiting for your crops, building a great village step by step…

As far as I know, all the quests on the new update are to be solved by digging. Don't waste your smurfberries. Be patient.

Yes, it is a bug, and Beeline is aware of it. You need to ignore Grandpa's quest until Beeline puts out a fix.

Best bug in this version; greedy ‘s bakery. U bake the most expensive cake and u can keep putting cakes through the village! My best score on that 139 cakes( adds coins and xp!)
Yeah, just tested that. I think you can place as many cakes, as you have free smurfs available at that point.
Also works with papa smurfs game if you mix the yellow potion

I managed to put up almost 3000 most expensive cakes around the village and I earned approx 120000 coins for it.
That is a bug. Exploiting a bug is often considered cheating by game companies and isn't a very smurfy thing to do.
What type of great rewards does the two smurfberry shovel find? The best thing I’ve seen by far is a smurfberry and to spend two smurfberries to gain one seems pretty stupid. Can we get any smurfberry items from digging or just lame crystals and a few resources?
You can get as many as 3 smurfberries with one dig, and the main benefit is that you need not wait 30 mins for the rewards, just simply 5 seconds. Of course, the cons does seem to outweigh the pros. Perhaps Beeline can look into making the berry shovel re-usable for 2 to 3 digs.

Something has gone wrong with my hot air balloon. I tap it and nothing happens. I can't get it to go back up to the mountain. Anyone else have this issue?

beeline said they are working on it. I did the thing where you tap on papa smurf and went back to the date it still worked. Lost my windmill progress though. And I still can’t complete grandpa’s quest for acorns because it won’t let me plant trees.
The acorns quest is a bug, so please don't feel bad about that one. Are you an Android or iOS player? I'm trying to capture data on which players are experiencing the acorn bug.
Hi, me too having this acorn’s quest problem. I’m an android user.
Please ignore the acorn quest for the timebeing. the Beeline developers are working n a fix which we should hopefully see within the next update or two. Though someone reported getting past the quest by addinfg 28 smurfs on the mountain, I dont recommend doing that (even if your device allows you to do tit). this is because as it has been explained to me, Beeline does not wish to cause players to go to that extraordinary level of coin/sb expense to accompilish the quest. it is a mistake, and they plan to fix it. Please be patient for now, and ignore the quest. I am also an Android player, so i understansd fully the frustration of not having a fully functioning mountain to play on.
I am iOS, newest update, got to mountain-planted tree-completed quest, built staircase, and back to acorn quest again. Stuck, cannot complete.
Beeline is still working on the acorn quest. They have not been able to figure out why it isn't working.
My hot air balloon moved on its own, and Now I can’t go up to the mountain anymore!! I can’t move it Back, I can’t go up…, nothing!! Please help!
Try recovering your game data to a point prior to it moving. Tap Options, Tap Papa's head 16 times, Tap Recover Village and preview the files until you find one with your balloon in its correct location.
I tapped on the head. Should I tap on the restart game button 16 times?
NO! You are to tap Papa's head 16 times until you see "Recover Village" appear. Restarting your village will take you back to Level 1 and you will not be able to recover if you do that.
I have the update for several days now. And I dont see the grandpa smurf anywhere?? I am higher then lvl 25 so i dont know why?
Have you completed Papa Smurf's quest to collect 10 wood? The quest needs to be completed, and you will need to harvest some magical raspberries before you can tap on the hot air balloon in your build menu and fly up into Mount Steepsmurf. That's where you will find Grandpa Smurf.

When does this quest happen, please? I'm on Level 31, almost Level 32, have applied the Hallowe'en update, and see no hot air balloon in my menus anywhere….will it appear for the island, or the mainland?

I also have the weird problem at the moment (ever since the Hallowe'en upgrade, or even before) that my crops stay stuck at about 99%, and no time ticks over while the game is open…often they'll 'notify' once I close the game that suddenly they are ready for picking, but other times it takes hours for that last 1% to get going, with the timer seemingly stuck.
Also, my smurfs moonwalk, or walk on the spot, or swivel back and forth…it's a little loopy at times!
The Thanksgiving update is not out for Android systems yet. This is why you don't have the baloon. We are told it is any day now…and are hoping it is soon. The good news is that there isn't anything wrong with your system.

Keep digging with shovel ( 200 coins or 2 SB ) anywhere until a key shows up. It does take a while before you’ll be able to get it. I got mine after trying several digs for 2 days and I purchased Grandpa smurf’s hut to increase my chances.
Let me get this straight… Take 90% of all resources first stage, then require 100 SB worth of W/S/D to complete, only to get them back one at a time, one per week? So, in 2 years we will be back to square one, enjoying our free berry. This must be a joke. This is the first thing ever in this game I have no desire to complete.

You grow them on the mountains. Shrubs are available for purchase on the mountains as well.

You need to have a WI-FI connection to update your game.

If you're asking if the WIFI is free, that depends on who is offering it. You either have to have a wireless internet available in your home or be set up for wireless hotspots.
Burger king has free Wi-Fi.

Grandpa's house gives you 25 XP per gem, worth it in my opinion, for 30 SB, since in 24 hours I already have 7 of them.
From what I see, the XP given depends on the gem, anywhere from 10 – 100 XP per gem, per day.

Spent 30 SB on Grandpa Smurf Hut, but it doesn't seem to do anything since the first couple digs. I'm digging and just getting 10 or 20 coins. Once got a yellow crystal-like rock which I placed near his hut, but still no reward or anything from Grandpa's hut. With no game and no rewards, I'm not sure of what's the value for his hut
His hut generates xp once a day. Placing any gems or crystals anywhere on the mountain will increase the total amount of xp gained.
My 9 year old daughter came up with a great suggestion for the next update. What about being able to launch the hot air balloon from the island as well as the mainland & a choice of floating from the mountain to either the mainland or the island?
Sounds cool too…but it would be best if you could forward this directly to Beeline as we are just a fan site.

I think the mountain and adding grand pa smurf was a great idea but maybe in the next update the could be a castle that the smurfs could go and vis and decorate. Maybe in the castle Johan and peewit and the king could give them quests inside the castle and just maybe one of those quests would. Be to find grand ma smurf and smogle. The players would then have to bring grand ma and smogle to the mountain and she could have her own house for her and a little "dog house" for smogle and if you put the three of them together you would get a little xp per day ( like the smurflings on the island ). And I know I have a big imagination .

Does anyone know if Grandpa Smurf’s hut is worth the 30 Smufberries? How much XP is given per crystal? If it is only 5 or 10 XP then no way. But if he give 150 or 200 per crystal per day then I’d think about it.

You should let your smurfs dig with the shovel you can buy for 200coins or 2sb. The black book is an item you can get from digging and is part of the quest for grandpa. The 'not opening' is just part of the story.

I updated several days ago and grandpa has not appeared. When I try and click the hot air balloon it tells me. To complete papa smurfs tasks. Any idea how many have to be completed?
Papa smurf will first give you a quest to get 10 wood, then you have to plant magical raspberries. Then you can buy the balloon to get to the mountain. These quests will appear after reaching level 25.
How do you get 10 wood?
You collect them when you trade your logs for coins daily with Timber, or you purchase them from Handy's shop.

Since I got the last update two days ago this morning mostly everything in my smurf village is gone. From the river that leads to the beach and therefore to the island I cannot get there. I only have 9 smurfs while I used to have 52 (level 26)
And I can’t even go to te mountains because my hot air ballon has disappeared.
Should I just wait for the next update to fix this glitch? Any help?
Never wait for the next update. Recover your village: Go to the login menu, press options. There you see papa smurfs head. Tap it 16 times and a button 'recover village appears. Tap it and you'll see a list off saved villages. Select one, preview and if it's the one you like, press recover.
I love this new update I haven't spotted any major bugs except from the island bug which won't let you zoom out but that's about it I'm happy about it:D<3<3
Did you have trouble traveling to the island before? I'm trying to find out if that bug has been fixed or not.
Nope I was fine travelling to island before and still am and I haven't heard anymore troubles about travelling there

You may try to restore your village by clicking Papa Smurf on the options 16 times. After you lose some progress, you could make your village in the same way.

Is it just me or does this new update really suck. There are plenty of bugs already, the limitations are abundant, they want you to drop more money instead of smurfberries even after you spent your money on those smurfberries, all of your resources that you saved are drained dry, and for what?!?!? ONE SMURFBERRY A WEEK?!?!?!?
Maybe this is how they are going to start making money for that new Smurf Life game that comes out next month. Maybe they have already given up on the Smurf Village and are ready to focus on Smurf Life. At least that's how I feel.

I'm unfortunately beginning to wonder if you're right. Smurf Life looks fun, but I seriously don't think the appeal will be as lasting as Smurfs' Village. I have no doubt in my mind that if I were to spend money on an app, it would be a game where I can decorate a village rather than a game where I play as my own character (which I can do anyway – Thanks to GameMaker).

Grandpa says he needs a crystal for his beard spell. I've been digging and come up with different gems and it never updates. Do you have a list with pictures of what we need?
I am having the same problem. So far I have collected what I guess is emerald in rock, purple crystals and one gold. I wonder what else we have to dig up. I even used the smurfberry special shovel.
Did you get it Drew? I let my Smurfs dig overnight and woke to more of the purple and green crystals. Quest is still not fulfilled:(

You have to do Papa smurf's quests. 1) Collect 10 wood . 2) Harvest 10 magical raspberries. After these quests you will be able to place the balloon

Timber Smurf provides wood from hut house. You can collect every 12 hours. Be sure to have lots of logs placed around his house for extra wood.

they are already available in the current ios update version 1.2.9. you just need to dig in the mountains in order to find them

You just have to keep digging, all the items Grandpa wants found need to be found by digging, but it can take a lot of tries before you get them

I've been looking for the Quartz from Australia for over 3 weeks now. Grandpa Smurf seems to be a complete waste of time from my point of view. Have yet to have anything worthwhile come out of it and will just be leaving him to search for his Australian Quartz on his own until the end of time.

There are only five different colors of crystals. If you have found one of each: white/clear, yellow, green, purple, or red, the quest is most probably buggy and requires you ignore him for now. You can report the bug to Beeline at http://beeline-i.com/support.php
