One of the most traditional Cheats in time dependent games is the so called “Time Cheat’’, where the players will be able to change time in order to speed or slow up the game events.
Likewise in Smurfs’ village Game “Time Cheat” has been proven to work perfectly, so by changing the time forward with couple of taps on your iPhone, iPad or iTouch, the players will be able to get their crops, fruits and vegetables ready instantly and don’t have to wait long time.
… there are penalties for manipulating the device clock. Beeline
Growing the crops instantly could be done legally using Smurfberries which you need to pay for them real money. Therefore Capcom had to put an end to it, so what were their actions?
Firstly, they warned the Cheaters either by popping up an alert message upon launching the game as ““BAD DEVICE TIME”, or via a message via Papa Smurf, whenever he detects changes in time, in which Papa Smurf will tell you, “I’m disappointed you have been overworking the Smurfs by changing your clock be careful or your Smurfs will leave the village”.

This message was seen in the earlier updates as a just as a friendly message from papa Smurf to scare the cheaters, however, in the recent updates (1.1.1 upwards) , few actions were indeed added to the game; where many people have noticed that are not getting gifts from Jokey and their snails and caterpillars were not producing any XP.
Initially was thought that the punishment was extremely sever as they wont get gifts form Jokey for weeks or months, but it turned out today that the penalties will take up to a week according to Beeline.
Beeline has mentioned today in one of their support boards that: “… there are penalties for manipulating the device clock. The severity of the penalty and length depend on how often we catch a player changing the clock. Worst case, the game usually goes back to normal in a week or so.”
So in conclusion that Beeline-Capcom (producer/ developer) are aware with this cheat and they have started to fight it, so be carful it may lead to a future ban for those who over use this cheats.
After the new Valentine's update I started getting "Bad Device Time" even though the only difference was the fact that I downloaded the new update…so I don't understand why they're not letting me play…when I haven't done anything wrong…
You mean you can not even access the game? In that case, first make sure that your time, timezone and date are set correctly. If they are, try restarting your device, that can help sometimes.
That happens to me once my sister and I were playing and that popped up for no reason.
Okay so scaredy smurf has been brave for a long time and it keeps telling me to come back at night but when I do he is still brace. I don’t understand. Then jokey smurf tells me to collect a gift from him. C its compliment day or something but when I click on him just keeps telling me to collect his gift. Wat do I do??
Is your effects turned ON? As for Jokey, has it been more than 24 hours since you last collected a gift from him? If you still can't get the gift, make sure you are at least level 16, then go and locate Marco Smurf in one of your friends' villages, collect a gift from Marco smurf and this will resolve Jokey's issue.

To get neighbor, u must have facebook for android. For apple, u can either user facebook or game center or both for friends.
To collect gift from jokey, have u waited over 24h then tap on him ?
This may be of use to someone, maybe even cheaters …. in the Options menu, tap the Papa Smurf icon SIXTEEN TIMES. You should get a Game recovery button. Click on that and then browse for your best option before selecting one of the saved options. You will probably have lost something, but Tough Luck !!!! Cheers
I have never use time cheat, yet I'm keep getting the "bad device time" warning ='( The only think I could think of is that I'm not using the network-provided automatic time zone (as the automatic time zone is always WRONG~!) and select my time zone manually instead. It seemed unfair for my case =(
Some people are having trouble with getting this error, but as only the bad device time message does not cause any punishments in regards to cheating (this only happens if you actually set the clock ahead) you can just ignore the error if the time is set correctly. Also, restarting your device might help.
I admit it! i cheated, i have been tempted and i tried it. i changed the timing on my iPhone twice skipping 48 hours, but then felt guilty about all the months i spent building my village and decided i don’t want to do it anymore. Then papa smurf warned me :$ i’m smurfin’ sorry. Never Again :/

Still playing without spending money on the, WAY TO EXPENSIVE, smurfberries… It's not fair of Beeline to make it so hard to get smurfberries, and to make the houses (Smurfette, Painter, and so on) so expensive and ask so much money for some VIRTUAL FRUIT!!!! 'Coz, let's get real: that's what you are buying for your dollars: virtual fruit!!!
Anyway, I have used the time cheat quite a lot, and now I am at level 27 (within about 1 month or so). No need to feel guilty at all. You didn't break any laws or so! It's just a game!!!

I cheated for 3-4 days. Then papa smurf send me that warning. Now i dont receive any xp from catapillar, snails, nor does jockey give me any gift. Will things be back to normal after a week? What shall i do?
You have to wait until the time you cheated towards has come in real life, i.e. if you set the time ahead for seven days, they will give XP and gifts again in 8 days.

this might have happened because you set your date too a few days before? mine did that. if you have then set it back to the original day, turn your ipad off, turn it back on go on smurfs and it should stop doing it, Hope that helped:)

okay waitttt this worked for me. But i'm not sure if it will work for you.
right so i tried the time cheat a few months ago and i got papa smurfs warning saying that my smurfs would start leaving,So i got worried and didn't try to do the time cheat again.But a few months had passed and i wanted to try it again so i did. But i tried it a different way.
1. So first i put it on airplane mode (this is essential that you MUST do this)
2.Went to my smurfs village, Planted pumpkins.(18 hours)
3. Changed my time setting to THE NEXT DAY. (DID NOT change hours or minutes)
4.Then i went on my smurfs and harvested the pumpkins.
right this is the important part!
5.So after i harvested the pumpkins i went back to my time settings and changed it back to the original setting
6.i then turned off my ipod and waited a few seconds. ( THIS IS THE MAIN PART. make sure you do this)
7.turned my ipod back ON
8. went on smurfs and i got no message from papa smurf.(everytime i do this)
9. i've been using this process many times and i have not got papa smurfs warning message Again, which i'm very happy about:)

I just tried this on my iPhone 4S, and did receive the "I'm disappointed" message. So far, all seems to be working well (I received a gift from Jokey), but I'm not going to risk this again. That said, perhaps this method works on the iPod, but not the iPhone.
worked for me.. just turn on the aiplane mode everytime you play the game
Don't listen to this noob. I did it exactly and for one day I didn't get XP from my Smurfette, Baby, Scaredy and my games reset to the beginning of their reload (Potion, Hammer, Baking, Mining and Painting).
Also, the pumpkins became withered, so I had to use a Smurfberry. ._.

My game crashes when I hit Play unless I set my date and time 24 hrs ahead… what does this mean? I caved and used the cheat once today, first time ever bc I was excited for the new island. Should I wait and not play for 24 hrs?

hi! i have cheated by changing forward the date ONLY THE DATE NEVER THE HOUR NEVER THE MINUTES! Βarba strumph told me that smurfs will leave the village but nothing ! i cheat every week for one week !
The smurfs will not leave, that message is just there to scare you, but it is possible that the special smurfs / animals will stop giving XP and Jokey/Marco will stop giving gifts when using the cheat.
It's not the FORWARD change that is the problem, it's the BACKWARD change… You can change as much forward as you like (days, hours, minutes, it doesn't matter!), but Papa Smurf nags the moment the time is set backwards…
Now, when you change it only 2 hours (backwards), there's no problem. Grow one crop of blueberries (as that only takes 30 seconds) and change the time further back 2 hours… This you can keep doing without any punishment or warnings… Going forward you can do in as big steps as you like…
i admit i used this for maybe 3 days and now my population has has more then halfed from 30 to 14 how can i get ot back ??
The time cheat has other punishments, the message that you will loose smurfs is just to scare you not to play anymore. If you really have lost Smurfs than that means your village got corrupted. I didn't use this cheat and I am having these same problems how do I fix it? and I tried the restoration thing by clicking on papa 16 time and nothing happens, does that only work for iphone users? =(
No, the restore feature is available on Android as well. Did you do it right, i.e. click the correct "head" of Papa (the one in the options menu)?
I, too have used the time cheat…..over and over, and finally, when i tap papa smurf, he had me send 3 smurfs into the forest to look for berries, and it will now take them 47,698 days to return or i can return them if i pay 1400+ smurfberries…… what a bummer….. anyone have a fix?
This can happen if you use the time cheat, because the "in-game" timer gets corrupted by this. My smurfs got sent away for 70 years and restoring previous village puts me back to level 24(im level 45 now)….guess im not playin smurfs anymore LOL. It is unfair that we get punished for time cheat but ppl who hack the game or uses jailbreak gets away with no punishment
Normally the game creates a backup point once a day, so there should be a more recent point then level 24 unless you got to that level in one day. If you used the time cheat, you might want to try to set the time ahead a little bit and see if one of the other backup points comes up, maybe they just got saved with the wrong date due to changing the time.
Hi everyone… i did try to cheat on smurf village… few months ago… LOL..but i stopped.just because i'm playing other games and been too busy playing them.. . so just today it came to my mind AGAIN to try and cheat.. but i was damn surprised that when i try to change time and go back to the game it says "BAD DEVICE TIME".. so now im kinda guilty doing it again.. but then…. i went over and figure out how to fix it… so what i did is log myself out of the GAME CENTER… i thought maybe that could be one of the reason why.. but still didnt work…
so i went over the internet and search what's going on about the current update…. and i came across this page..the end towards the time cheat… and i was like ok..thats why… so i started reading out all the comments… and ive seen the post by "callie" so i went on and try turning on the AIRPLANE MODE>.. and try to go back to the game… and there it is… shoot! it stopped saying "bad device time" or even papa smurf warning about changing device time….

Or you can just turn the internet access off from your device (wifi) instead of turning the airplane mode on..

No, he is not gone due to cheating, if he is gone it means something in your village data got corrupted. You can try the recover village feature described here: http://www.mysmurfsvillage.com/smurfs-village-gui… to restore your village to a point when he was still, though you might loose some progress. He will most likely not come back on his own.
i use samsung galaxy S2 n i dont have the icon "recovery village" on my options there…

It is not there from the beginning, it is hidden, have you followed the instructions given in the revocery article?

Those are the quests from Papa, not the instructions on how to recover your village. You have to go to the Options menu from the main menu, there you tap 16 times on Papa smurf's head and then the recover village button will appear.

This seems more like a penalty then village data corrupted. I lost Papa smurf/ Brainy/ Jokey/scardy + 15 smurfs. When i click on a house, it shows 39/54 smurfs. That does not seem like corrupted village data to me. I did not know about the recover village feature till recently and the game was already in this status for a month the earliest date i am able to recover is already bugged. Latest update got me Papa smurf back but i have to do all the quest from start and managed to get jokey and scardy. Brainy stll missing.
the makers of this game are really greedy. REALLY?? REALLY?? 3 smurfberries per level up? and u need like 6 smurfberries for any one crop of 24 hour duration. for me to play and enjoy the game for a couple hours id have to spend like $300 on smurfberries. this game sucks ass. to the makers i say: look at POCKET FROGS and learn how real games are done. this game is pathetic.
Ive done the time cheat and not gotten the dissapointed or the bad device time or anything messages. I don’t do it anymore because I don’t see the point in playing if it isn’t going to be hard. But i will share that the way its done on ipad is, you minimize the game, you change the day or the time ( if you change the time make sure to change minutes too) then Do Not open the game back up, instead close the app in the list of application below, and THeN relaunch the game. Hope it helps you cheaters lol
You say in worst case a week or so thats not true, have ben waiting 2 weeks now, I never turn my clock 2 weeks forvard. PLEASE do something .
We are not Beeline but an unofficial guide to the game, so we can not do anything. Usually it takes as long as you set the clock ahead, but if you are sure you did not set the clock ahead that long, please contact Beeline at support@beeline-i.com
I only cheated once when papa smurf asked me to grow artichoke. Without thinking I planted them at 5pm so I had to harvest them at 2am. So I cheated, but after that I never received anything but bomb from jockey.. What was that? It says that the severity of the penalty was base on how much I cheated. I only cheated once but I'm on level 20 now but never received gift since level 13.,
If this was a punishment for cheating you would not get a gift from Jokey at all, not even a bomb. The punishment means that he has not the yellow "!" over his head indicating there is a gift. This is something more on the line of bad luck or a corruption. If you continue to not get gifts, you should contact Beeline.
I used time cheat for my crops and turned the time back. I had smurfs sent by papa smurf, and now when I turned the time back, It says I have to wait 5000 hours for my smurfs to return to the village. 5000 hours is almost a year like 200days

It's funny, but I tried to do Callie's cheat up above, and Brainy (not Papa) said that Marco (I'm on L16) came back "empty handed" and he will try again.
However, all my specials were ready and I got a Smurfberry from Jokey! How nice…
1: set device time back to 1 of january.2: go into smurfs village plant 18-24 hour vegitables.3: go back to settings set it to 2 of January don't change the hours.4: continue this until you reach current day.This way you will not loose jockeys gift after current date or any other perks in the game.If you repeat it again papa tells you that your smurfs will go away. I have done it several times and all my smurfs are still here and I still get a daily gift.But I did mess up my wife's village by setting time forward all the way to 1 of June and this means no gift unti 2 of june.Good luck and happy smurfing.
Its not recomended to time cheat and your smurfs can leave your village. Gargamel can olso visit the village and destroy it.
since the spring forward time change I received the clock msg. I never used the cheat but since the time change all my crops are screwedup. the island specifically. I planted honeydew (24hrs), and when I check on the island like 2 or 3 hours later, all my crops have withered.anyone else have the issue of crops spoiling before they're due?

You have to wait about 24 hrs for his regular gift giving cycle. The exclamation point just stays above his head confusing you. Be patient
I found that i completed that quest from jokey by claiming a gift from marco finding him in a friends village, you should try this if jokey doesnt give you gifts

Not forever. I read somewhere you have to wait several weeks before everything is back to normal.
I forward to many yrs later to get the gift from jokey until yrs 2038.. So is it I won’t have any more gift from jokey??

Ok. You have 2 choices. 1) go to friends village find Marco and return to your own village and find him there. You will get XP and jokey is happy. Or 2) go to friends village and look in right hand bottom corner. There is a present. Tap on it and you can give your friend a gift from jokey. This is what he wants. YOU CAN ONLYDO THIS IF THEY HAVE THE MOST RECENT UPDATE. Otherwise get around it by using Marco.
I have no problems at all. I have never experienced a glitch. Should I expect one?
Do you mean you alter the time constantly? If so, you might experience it someday. If not, you are fine.

Jokey has a yellow! Above his head and when I click him it gives me a task to collect a present from him but it won’t let me collect one?
The yellow ! means he has a quest to "collect a package from me" . Wait for 24h and tap him to get a package.

You have to wait a while before things are resumed to normal.
I have never used the time cheat but I still got punished. I just started the game about 2 months ago and did not know of this time cheat. I always had the time on my clock set 15 minutes faster because I used my phone as my alarm. I realized something was wrong when my friend told me my game hadn't update. We thought it could be due to the time because I would get bad time messages so I changed my settings to automatic. Then I got the papa smurf's disappointed message. Now I stopped getting XPs and jokey won't give me gifts! This sucks.
as soon a the island update came out i used the time cheat a lot more. jokey smurf, angry smurf, baby smurf, snails, and scaredy smurf did not give me XP anymore.ive waited a very long time and it still hasnt been fixed. ugh, i shouldve never done tht . HELP PLEASE
there is no way to fix it. u have to wait it out for a long time.

It can take much longer time for it to go back to normal, it depens how much you have been cheating.
The system is treating me as a cheater ( joker not giving gifts and totem pole quest timer keeps getting larger, once use berry to close out quest but no reward) but I moved my system time ahead because I changed time zones…went to china. Please fix and don’t penalize travelers.
Unfortunately, the game system may not be so smart to determine whether you are really cheating, and as a precautionary measure, it has been programmed to stop you for receiving gifts from Jokey and collecting xp from critters until about 168 hours has passed or so.
Seriously? I travel to Asia frequently and am addicted to the game. That stinks.
I haven't got any for the past 2 weeks! How long is the maximum time!? I haven't changed my clock since!

What if I cheated then set the clock back to normal a couple of times andwhen will I get xp from caterpillars again from that and I stopped getting the story thing for papa smurfs quests
I don't see why it's such a big deal not to get gifts from Jokey, or even XP from caterpillars/butterflies/etc. Let's face it, considering the amount of XP you need increases substantially with each level gained, your couple hundred from objects like those really don't add up to much. You'd get MUCH more from using the clock to harvest all your crops – infinitely MUCH more. As for Jokey's gifts…really? lmao He gives you a flower, or a cupcake, or something equally small and lackluster. Who cares?
So I admit using this time cheat because some how my dam got deleted and I wasn't going to wait another 5 days (I think). I got the warning that Papa said that I'm over working them. I decided to roll back and restore my village before I did the cheat. Does anyone know if I am deemed a cheater now and won't be able to receive gifts from Jokey/critters?
I wouldn't recommend to use the time-cheat, however you did a good thing to restore yours to the point you haven't cheated. For me you restored your fault
but I'm not sure how the game reacts at this.
Restoring means that your previous data should not interact with your current village. I'm not sure if the critters and Jokey will stop to give gifts and xp. If they stop, please inform me. This is a weird case.
At the moment Jokey sticks his tongue out at me. Which wasn't how it was before I believe. And for the critters, I'm still unsure. I know my butterflies and squirrels still do give me xp. For the caterpillars and snails, I will update you within' a day. Thank you for your help.

Someone people have already found out the consequences. They can't get pass the jokey quest "collect a package fromme" because jokey doesn't gift package anymore because they've ignored warning from papa about overworking the smurfs

We dont know how long it takes for village back to normal but if u just started experiencing the problem due to cheating, you can restore your village. The game keeps about 20 days saved on local device.
I found a loophole in the punishment. Just turn off the wifi and 3g
on your device and continue cheating!!
Are u planning to play the game offline forever ? And do u know what consequences will be when u connect the game to internet ?

I used the time cheat half a year ago but it was for another game and jokey has never given me a gift since…..;( he says he’s supposed to give me some package but I can’t get it, not even with marco smurf ;(
I've went to Australia in december of last year, that implied changing time zone 2 times on the way to australia, and two times on the way back from australia.
That got me one or two warning from papa smurf. and also my crop to wither before due time. (or not being ready on due time)
I also went from NSW to Queensland during those holidays, and that was another two time changes.
and later in January I went to Canaria Island in spain and that was another two time changes.
I haven't noticed directly that jokey wasn't giving gift anymore, but I've noticed that all my caterpillard haven't been giving xp after the latest time change I've had. (Canaria Island)
I'm not really a frequent traveller, but I do travel here and there and play the game on the iphone, since the iphone is my reference clock I have to leave it on auto settings.
I wish the game was smarter to detect the time changes, now I'm 4 months since all that travelling, and I do feel more catterpillars are giving XP which confort me into thinking the game is returning to normal, but my two snails still doesn't give me XP and Jokey still hasn't give me gift.
Is the game taking more time to return to normal state if we have many catterpillars/snails ? because I have like +10 catterpillars ?

Well, it's not like I choosed to change the clock with all that traveling, the iPhone is detecting the timezone and adjust the clock accordingly, we're in may now and it all started in January … I wonder how much time it's gonna need to get back to normal…
let's say between end january to first of may, it's been 3 * 30 days * 24h = 2160 hours … and the game is still not fully back to normal …
Does keeping on buying more caterpillar add more time to the return to normal state ?
I'm tempted to not collect the xp from all my caterpillar (18 total now) for 24h and try to count how many are really still giving XP…
I do feel cheated by the game … and starting the game all over again is not an option, maybe just quitting it all togheter should be the way to go

i tried that and it's been two weeks now and i'm still not getting any gifts from jokie ,xp from the old snails and caterpillars , and no xp from grouchy and scardy :S i hope it ends soon coz i don't want to cheet again and i cheeted the first time because something went wrong with the game and they basically deleted the lower half of my village along with house and the smurfs and although i'm at level 26 papa smurf thinks i'm in level 1 !! and of the things that was deletted was farmer smurfs hut :/ so i cheeted so i can move my village from my cellphone ( samsung galaxy s) to my tablet which i wanted to do but couldn't since you can't back up the game on the beeline website or facebook
